YOUNG Stormers fly half, Damian Willemse, may have been on the losing side after his team’s away defeat to the Highlanders yesterday, but his personal performance caught the eye of an international fly half.
Australian star, Quade Cooper, tweeted that Willemse was his new favourite player and he also suggested that the Strand born Willemse “can ball”. This is high praise from a player who has always had the “x-factor” and the ability to do extraordinary things on the field but has also never been too far away from controversy. The 29 year old Cooper is currently out of action after being dropped from the Reds squad for the 2018 Super Rugby season, although his Twitter biography would suggest that he is currently considering a few options.
“Undecided TBC” are the words in his Twitter bio and the natural thing would be to assume that he is weighing up his options.
The 19 year old Willemse will play for the Stormers against the Blues at Newlands this coming Saturday.
Below is the tweet Cooper sent to his 462000 followers.
